Cheese~ I like the all black Mambas. And it's a lot easier/cheaper to refinish an old set in one colour. Even a little curb rash can be sanded out and hidden behind the paint. Mine look to be original paint (they have a blue center with polished outer). Does anyone know if they came in colours other than black? I'm still looking for at least one (prefer 2 - need a spare) 5x10 with the stem between the spokes. Also the nuts/center caps. I'll take whatever you've got: wheels (must be structually sound and straight), wheel nuts/center caps (even if I have to piece together a set) Joe

Mamba wheel manufacturing stopped a good bit earlier than 1987 from what I've been told. If they still had them listed in the catalog in the 80's they were likely older stock items. Here is an early Mamba. Don't mind the paint scheme...I was trying different things out. These are 6x10.

Well, here are the wheels I ended up with. I have no idea what model, what year, what value they are. I have coveted Mambas for years. Mine are 6 inch from inside lip to lip. The stems are in the spokes. I stripped the paint, put them on a lathe, and polished for hours. The edges were pretty beat up, but I got them to a reasonable finish. I wanted to paint them as close to original as possible. Hope I hit it. Below is a progress link.

sure - angled shot as requested. As I've never seen the one with the stem within the spokes I don't know who came first. The Seven's catalog ( wheel page dated 1987 ) shows wheel with stem as shown above.

Hey 66, so those are 25 years old? Would those be considered the old ones? or the newer style? Which ones have the stem within the spokes? Is the profile of the lip different? It appears that the silver portion of your wheels is a series of flat surfaces, before going to black and dropping into the spokes. Is there a definite edge where the black and silver meet? could you shoot an angled shot so I could see?

The early ones also had non-concentric centers and had to be balanced using the bolt pattern.

a HUGE picture of what appear to be Revolution imitations by Taiwan maker MWS. Very nice wheel. Quite intense offset to allow that much exposed lip. What do the lug nuts look like?

As far as I know, all Mambas are real Mambas - there are no fakes/copies/reproductions available.
There were two generations of wheel however, the early ones with the valve stems in the different position to the later ones. Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

I was told that early Mambas had the valve stem hidden in the spokes and later ones have them closer to the wheel's lip....but that they are both real Mambas. R~ who has a sweet early set on his car now! Prez, Mini Owners of America, Los Angeles

I have three 5x10 Mambas with the stem in the spokes. They're originals. Looking for 2 more -at a reasonable price. Also need all caps/nuts.

Is there such a thing? I thought someone said that the valve stem hidden in the spokes was a real set, and a stem visible in the lip were imitation. Is there any ground to this?
Is there a value difference to either type? Size?
