Then power the headlight relay fom the 'Acc' position. Then you can have headlights with or without ignition on and no headlights with the ignition OFF Wombat "Compound Ignorance - You don't know-and you don't know that you don't know"

Hmmm not sure it will work with the ign cct, it would require that the engine stopped with the points closed to get a circuit to ground, not really much chance of that, if you have electronic ign it wud never work. You would have to put a relay that was operated from the ign being on and have the contacts that are closed when it is not operated wire up to replace the door switch in my cct.

Dodge trucks come with a Gong. There some musical buzzers from JcWhitney designed for flashers that can be rigged for something like this.

You can get a cheap warning buzzer at a local NAPA store.

Forgot to add that is for the Mokes! Ain't got no doors! Thanks GDC - I'll look into that circuit (but as stated above it'll be added to the ignition rather than the doors). Martin.

Martin, Sometimes it's hard to hear the little chime reminding you to turn off the lights. If you really want to make sure you're not returning to a dead battery, hook one of those shocky dog collar things into the system. Walk more than ten feet from the Moke with the lights on and you'll be on the ground thrashing around trying to get the damned thing off.

Sometimes it is usefull to be able to have the headlights on without the ignition. Think broken down & pushing, or parked waiting for someone with traffic going past.
Hooking something up behind the dash between the dash lights and the door switch should be pretty simple to do. Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

Why not just hook up a relay via the ignition switch so that when the ignition is off so are the headlights? Thats the way my Subaru works Wombat "Compound Ignorance - You don't know-and you don't know that you don't know"

Ive always just done a simple Piezo alarm between the Lights circuit and the interior light cct with a diode in it. That way if the lights are still on and you open the door the piezo starts going. simple. See diagram enclosed.

Anybody know of a solid-state circuit diagram to make an audible "Lights On" warning buzzer. I made one for a Mini last year with a relay & a peizo-electric buzzer but it ended up being bulky. It only needs to buzz when the headlighs are on & not the side lights (at least for me). Thanks, Martin.
